Description:

Salesforce.com is looking for a self motivated person to join the IT department resolving technology issues and provisioning IT services for users across the Linux environment. This position reports to the Desktop Support Manager, Asia-Pac. The primary focus will be on the Linux platform (Ubuntu) and include the following areas: Linux OS support, Linux application support, OS RAID troubleshooting, desktop hardware support, security and patch maintenance, remote troubleshooting and Linux policy management through various tools. The Linux Desktop Support Analyst will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving desktop\laptop software, hardware and network issues across the Mac and Windows platforms.

Responsibilities:
The Linux Desktop Support Analyst will contribute to the overall success of the IT Operations organization by providing prompt and complete resolution to technical issues raised by the business. He/she will respond to requests for technical support via phone, email and personnel, and will escalate on behalf of customer to appropriate technical personnel as needed. He/she will interface daily with other IT technical staff working on assignments, sharing best practices with team members, and delivering services related his/her area of responsibility. Additional responsibilities include:
Help resolve complex IT issues
Maintain client patch levels proactively
Make use of command scripting and scheduling to reduce errors
Respond to client threats and remediate threats as required
Document standards, best practices, and policies for Linux/Mac/Win platforms
Initiate and track service requests with 3rd party vendors
Support Security Standards (anti-virus/anti-spam/firewall/patching/network access)
Work with Global Service Desk, Tier-2 Support, IT NOC, and other teams as needed to identify and resolve technical problems
Maintain passwords, data integrity and system access for Desktop technologies
Install and support devices including: laptops, workstations, printers and phones
Other IT tasks related to supporting the technical needs of users in a business environment

Required Skills/Experience:

A minimum of 2 years experience in IT or related field in a professional environment.
Experience supporting standard security applications in an Enterprise environment (anti-virus, network access control, hard disk encryption, two-factor authentication, patch management & remediation.)
Experience in troubleshooting front-line network (TCP/IP) connectivity issues across a variety of technologies (LAN/Dial-up/Broadband/Wireless)
Strong working knowledge of several Linux distributions
Basic knowledge of Linux Configuration Management Tools
Strong working knowledge of Debian Ubuntu distributions
Solid understanding of package managers (RPM, dpkg, apptitude)
Solid understanding of Linux file systems including LVM, Raid and best partitioning practice
Experience with shell scripting, python and pearl (ruby a plus)
Knowledge of Active Directory architecture
Demonstrates strong customer service focus, analytical, problem solving and teamwork abilities.
Approaches change objectively; treats change and new situations as opportunities for learning or growth.

Desired Skills/Experience:

BS in IT, CS or related discipline
Good understanding of Active Directory integration (Centrify)
IP tables network management
Basic DNS and DCHP knowledge and troubleshooting
Version-Control Systems\Source code management (Eclipse, Perforce, other plug-ins)
Knowledge of Exchange/Calendaring management and integration
MCSE, Cisco, Linux, Mac or other standard IT support certifications
Experience with support ticket management and tracking.
Proven track record in customer service.
Travel/Hours:
Minimal travel may be required within the region to support other offices. Working outside of normal business operating hours may be required to provide technical support in emergency or maintenance situations.
