Introduction to NDT

Students will be provided with a high level overview of various tests that are performed in Non-destructive Testing. This course will provide a visual of tests being performed at the Spectramind Engineering Laboratory. Candidates will learn:

  1. Material Process Defects in castings, forgings, drawing and machining.
  2. Visual testing of Welding processes, weld defects, weld inspections, visual inspection tools
  3. Liquid Penetrates Testing
  4. Magnetic Particle Testing
  5. Ultrasonic Testing with Thickness measurements and Crack detection
  6. Radiography Testing Inspection Process interpretation
  7. Eddy Current Testing with surface inspection and tubing inspection
  8. Certification Exam for SNT-TC-1A NAS 410

Pre-requisites
Students should have a minimum of High-school level education.


Level 1- Eddy Current testing

The NDT Level I training course,taught at Spectramind , Hyderabad, India, will provide theory lectures and practical training around understanding basic principles of Eddy Current testing (ET), performing calibrations, measuring samples and performing non-destructive testing using eddy current. The course will encourage group discussions around practical problems and provide field expertise on how to resolve them. At the end of this course the candidate will be able to perform surface eddy current inspection. As part of ET Level I course the candidate will be trained in the following subject areas:

  1. Understanding principles of Eddy Current.
  2. Inspection and measurement of samples.
  3. Calibrating instruments.
  4. Understanding manufacturing discontinuities.
  5. Preliminary test using Eddy Current.
  6. Preparing test report.

At the end of the course candidate will be appearing for a Level I exam. Each candidate will be a certified NDT ET Level I Engineer upon successfully passing the exam.

Pre-requisites
Candidate should have a minimum of High-school level education.

Exams:
The examination will be in accordance with ASNT Std. SNT-TC-1A by ASNT Level III Professional.

Candidates are encouraged to bring an electronic calculator. Programmable calculators are permitted as long as it does not have an alphanumeric keyboard. No other books, paper, or charts will be allowed.

Candidates are permitted to use a translation dictionary. No electronic dictionaries will be allowed.

Candidates should plan to arrive at the examination site at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled examinations. No one will be admitted after an examination has started.

Candidates will receive results immediately after the exam at the end of the training. For certification related training courses, candidates will receive their certificates 1-2 week after the exam. Candidates who fail to achieve a passing score will require appearing for the exam again.


Level 1-Magnetic Particle

The NDT Magnetic Particle (MT) Testing Level I training course, taught at Spectramind , Hyderabad, India, will provide theory lectures and practical training to provide the candidate with a preliminary understanding of magentic particle test test. The course will encourage group discussions around practical problems and provide field expertise on how to resolve them. At the end of this course the candidate will understand how to perform inspection of samples for magnetic particle test. The course will cover -

  2. Inspection and measurement of samples.
  3. Introduction to ASTM and ASME standards and specifications.

At the end of the course candidate will be appearing for a Level I exam. Each candidate will be a certified NDT MT Level I Engineer upon successfully clearing the exam.

At the end of the course candidate will be appearing for a Level I exam. Each candidate will be a certified NDT RT Level I Engineer upon successfully clearing the exam.

The NDT Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level I training course, taught at Spectramind , Hyderabad, India, will introduce the basic principles of ultrasonic and initiate the candidate for basic understanding of thickness measurement and other zero degree inspections. The course will provide theory lectures and practical training around. The course will encourage group discussions around practical problems and provide field expertise on how to resolve them. As part of NDT Level I the candidate will learn to:

  1. Basic Principles of Ultrasonic
  2. Inspect and measure samples
  3. Calibrate instruments
  4. Understand manufacturing discontinuities
  5. Immersion Testing
  6. Flaw Detection
  7. Ultrasonic Testing

At the end of the course candidate will be appearing for a Level I exam. Each candidate will be a certified NDT UT Level I Engineer upon successfully clearing the exam.

  6. Evaluate results using ASME / ASTM standards and specifications.

At the end of the course candidate will be appearing for a Level II exam. Each candidate will be a certified NDT ET Level II Engineer upon successfully passing the exam.

Pre-requisites
Candidate should have cleared ET Level I Certification Course or possess a minimum of engineering diploma or degree level education.

Exams:
The examination will be in accordance with ASNT Std. SNT-TC-1A by ASNT Level III Professional.

Candidates are encouraged to bring an electronic calculator. Programmable calculators are permitted as long as it does not have an alphanumeric keyboard. No other books, paper, or charts will be allowed.

Candidates are permitted to use a translation dictionary. No electronic dictionaries will be allowed.

Candidate should have cleared MT Level I Certification Course or possess a diploma or degree level qualification.

Exams:
The examination will be in accordance with ASNT Std. SNT-TC-1A by ASNT Level III Professional.
