Overview

IT professionals have traditionally been tasked with the responsibility of building and maintaining a reliable computing infrastructure that supports their organisation's day to day operations. However as economic and environmental conditions in the marketplace become ever more volatile, there is a requirement for the IT professional to grow new and different skill sets to support the organisation's need to become more cost efficient and environmentally aware. Today's IT professional needs to understand and implement green computing methods in order to make the organisation run more efficiently with respect to energy and ICT infrastructure. Coupled with the ever present need to reduce costs and save the organisation money, it is now a legal requirement to have strict policies regarding the proper usage and disposal of IT materials and infrastructure.
