Benevolent Capitalism: Creating A Business For The Good Of All

Benevolent Capitalism:Training

BUSINESS TODAY NEEDS A NEW PARADIGM…CONVENTIONAL BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE OUT OF BALANCE AND WE NEED TO ADDRESS THIS IMBALANCE NOW.

capitalism took birth in the age of Industrial revolution during the modern period. The earlier version of feudalism too was exploitative. During the 19 the and 20 the centuries there were number of efforts to decimate capitalism and to create an egalitarian society. But technology has favoured capitalism .
Believe it or not this very technology is going to decimate capitalism by the mid of 21 st century . No force on earth or outer space can save it . SO CAPITALISM IS GOING TO BE LIKE BHASMASURA - SELF DESTRUCTIVE!

In the age of AI - A NEW BRAND OF SOCIALISM IS GOING TO PREVAIL ; WHERE THERE WILL NO EXPLOITATION OF HUMANS BY HUMANS .

Human institutions like family . marriage , kinship , economic organisation . political organisation , religion are going to change radically . All this is going to happen in the next 30-50 years !

WHAT IS BENEVOLENT CAPITALISM?

What would the world be like if everything that existed on the planet contributed to a future that is sustainable and expansive for everyone?
To truly change the world, there needs to be a different kind of conversation going on globally about what business can actually be.
What if businesses worldwide began to function differently and looked at capitalism as the source for creation of change and contribution to all rather than the source for just lining pockets or becoming richer at the expense of other people, and the planet?
True Capitalism is highly innovative and highly creative; it’s what you do to create money and a different possibility on earth. Benevolence is choosing to do kindly, to do as little harm as possible.
Becoming a Benevolent Capitalist means you are willing to look from a different place with business and with everything in order to create something greater than what is currently here; to create more possibilities so that we can have some kind of sustainable future.

WHAT IS SUSTAINABILITY AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE?

Many people judge that sustainability is about being able to produce more of the same indefinitely, or that is about fixing damage. But what should we really be looking at when we are talking about creating a Sustainable Future?
A truly sustainable future is one where the world continues to grow and expand far beyond what it currently is.
It’s not about taking, using up or wearing out the earth. It is about what we do that opens a door to a level of possibility in the world that allows the earth to generate and create itself and allows us to benefit from what is creating and generating.
To do that, we need to be aware of what our choices are going to create. For example, in South America, rainforests were burnt out to plant crops to feed cows and sell the meat to places like McDonalds. None of that is sustainable, because you don’t have the underlying structure that supports that kind of planting, and so it will wear out after five years. After that, the land is destroyed and there is no more business profit either.
If you were willing to be aware that the choices you made in business were killing your resources and profit beyond the short term, would you make a different choice?
If you are willing to see what isn’t working, and are willing to function from the question of “what else is possible that I have never even considered?” you will begin to invite awareness of a greater possibilities and choices that you never knew existed.

EVERYONE CAN BECOME A BENEVOLENT CAPITALIST

Whether you are a janitor, a stay at home Mom, a teacher, an entrepreneur, or a school kid, everyone knows something that contributes to expanding the world, and everyone has the capacity to be a catalyst for change. What do you see that others don’t? And what do you know that can contribute to the possibilities of the planet?

Do you ever feel concerned about the current state of the world? Are you frustrated with the status quo? Are you tired of business as usual and long for a different possibility?

As an entrepreneur and owner of a successful global company, I can tell you that something else is possible! Business can be kinder, more inclusive, and less judgmental. Business can thrive financially while creating a greater possibility for others and for the world. I call this benevolent capitalism.

Business can thrive financially while creating a greater possibility.
The word benevolent means “for the good of all.” Capitalism refers to the things that we do to make money. When businesses function from benevolent capitalism, choices are made not only based on what will generate money but also on what will contribute to others and to the planet.

What would the world be like if our businesses practiced benevolent capitalism? What greater possibilities would materialize if everything was created with the good of all in mind? Choosing benevolent capitalism requires that you work differently. It requires you to step up and go beyond the status quo; to become the leader of your own life and business.

To truly change the world, there needs to be a different kind of conversation going on globally about what business can actually be, about the true source of innovation and about the leadership techniques that will create a greater future for all.

What would it be like if businesses worldwide began to function differently?

What if you were always looking from a different place with everything in order to create something greater than what is currently here?

What could you create in business and in the world if you started recognizing what you saw that others don’t? Started asking what you know that can contribute to the possibilities of the planet?

This class is about cultivating the potency for being a catalyst of change and for different possibilities. Facilitated by four of the greatest catalysts of change in the world.

Everyone has the capacity to be a catalyst for a better world. This class is the invitation to BE it.

Are you willing?

Here are four simple tools you can use in business decisions to choose and create for the good of all:

Know that you know

We’ve been taught to make choices and solve problems through thinking. Look for the right answer. Do the right thing. But as Albert Einstein said, “No problem can be solved by the same level of thinking that created it.” Thinking never allows us to create something new because our cognitive mind never allows us to go beyond what it currently knows.

There is something that goes beyond thinking, and we all have it. It’s called knowing, or awareness. You might refer to it as intuition. It’s the inner sense of what to do, where to go, what choice to make. Knowing is faster than thinking. Knowing goes beyond the limitation of the cognitive mind and accesses the infinite possibilities that are available.

My question to you is, “What do you know that you’ve been pretending not to know, or denying you know, that if you allowed yourself to know it would change everything in your business and in the world for the greater?” Whatever that is, would you be willing to acknowledge it and to be it? Would you be willing to know what you know even if no one else understands? Even if no one else follows?

Questions are the key

You may have been told having the right answer is most important in making choices regarding your business. Actually, looking for the right answer and coming to the conclusion that you have the right answer is what kills your business and creates stagnation. Questions take us beyond our conclusions. They open the door to possibilities we have not yet considered. Questions access our knowing and propel us into the creation of a greater future.

Business consultant and co-author of “No More Business As Usual” Steve Bowman works with a lot of corporations. As business problems are discussed, he often asks, “What if it weren’t this way?” There are always one or two people who say, “Well, it is this way! It’s always been this way.” Steve’s response: “Yeah. But what if it wasn’t?” When this question is asked all the limitations and conclusions are set aside for a moment and the consideration of a new possibility enters. Now there is the ability to go in a different direction.

Other questions you can ask are, “What else is possible here that we haven’t considered?” And, “What are the new realities we desire to birth as an organization?” Or, “What are the new realities I desire to create with the choices I can make?” Asking questions accesses our knowing. And all groundbreaking ideas have come from our knowing and our consciousness, not from our thinking.

What will our business be like if we choose benevolent capitalism?

benevolent capitalism
Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group says, “Don’t think what’s the cheapest way to do it, or what’s the fastest way to do it. Think, what’s the most amazing way to do it.” To find what’s the most amazing way to do something, ask this question: “If we choose … what will our business be like in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?”

When you ask this question, instantly you will have an awareness of what will create the most in your business. Most of us have never been taught that we are energetic beings. But we are! And when we ask a question that takes us five years into the future, our mind can’t figure it out; it’s too far away. So what happens is we perceive the energy of it. Perceive the energy and follow what feels light and you will begin to create your business from benevolent capitalism.

Be the leader of your life

A true leader is someone who knows where they must go and is willing to go there even if no one understands or follows. Leaders ask questions and live in the space of “What else is possible?” Leaders choose consciousness. Consciousness is where everything is included and nothing is judged. Leaders acknowledge the contribution that they are, and at the same time acknowledge the contribution that others are.

Ultimately, leaders empower others to lead. They are not interested in creating followers. They are interested in creating a world, and a future, far greater than anything we have yet imagined. Will you be the leader of your life? Will you live in the space of possibility? If you wish to create a business that is for the good of all, start by acknowledging that you and the choices you make in your business and your life will actually create the future you’d like to see. Yes!

You are the most valuable product of your business.
You are the most valuable product of your business. You are a powerful creator. Your choice makes a difference. Your consciousness creates change. You choosing to be the leader of your life is the invitation to a whole new reality in business and in the world.

If you truly knew how bright and brilliant you are, if you truly knew that your choice contributes to the creation of our future if you fully got that you being the greatness of you creates a whole new possibility for the world, what would you choose?

Practical Implementation of Benevolent capitalism :

Benevolent capitalism’s few meaningful ways business has engaged to make the world a better place.
1. Marvell, the semi-conductor manufacturer, contributed $5.6 million to One Laptop Per Child in designing a new tablet PC that can be used to help kids learn in the Third World. They didn’t just donate the money; they designed the product to be specifically applied for third world use, with an additional model tailored for the first-world.
2. Walmart installed TerraCycle recycling and garbage bins outside of New Jersey stores, and may expand the program nationwide. TerraCycle takes an innovative spin on recycling and waste, taking things most people think are garbage — like empty Capri-Sun juice bags, or Oreo cookie wrappers — and fashioning them into cool products that kids can take to school as backpacks and more. TerraCycle has successfully “upcycled” $1.85 billion worth of garbage since its inception (and as a plug, TerraCycle is founded by a Fellow of StartingBloc, Tom Szaky).
3. Nordstrom is preparing to open an innovative new department store in downtown Manhattan that will donate all of its profits to charity. This example of a cause integration is important because the company is not only able to contribute to good works in the world; it also is able to apply its brand power and deeply intuitive knowledge of retail and the American consumer to create an experience around shopping to do good. Nordstrom is setting a precedent for other mainstream corporations to follow of applying their business expertise to doing their part to contribute to a better and more sustainable world community.
4. Newman’s Own is a salad dressing brand that millions of Americans have enjoyed for years. I always had Newman’s Own caesar salad dressing back home in Michigan. You might have heard that Newman’s Own contributes all of their after-tax profits to charity. You might not have known that this one little salad dressing company has raised literally $300 million dollars for charities since its inception. Imagine what other major corporations could do once billion dollar companies start forming with the intention of donating after-tax profits to charity!
5. The Product (RED) campaign has partnered with corporations to create branded products of all types that raise money for AIDS research and has donated over $150 million dollars to the Global Fund for AIDS prevention. They have done so by bringing (RED) Dell Laptops, (RED) Starbucks coffee, (RED) American Express Cards, (RED) surfboards, and more to American “citizen consumers“ who want to make the world better through their purchases.
6. One Percent For The Planet is a global movement of corporations that are donating 1 percent of their net revenues to nonprofits that work for environmental sustainability and wellbeing. The efforts of member organizations have led to $50 million raised for environmental organizations.
7. Visa recently donated $1 million dollars to the global micro-finance leader Kiva, which has to date lent more than $100 million in micro-loans to entrepreneurs around the world. The $1 million donation by Visa will be applied to American entrepreneurs now using the Kiva platform.
8. Yum! Brands, which brings you KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, fulfilled its commitment made at the Clinton Global Initiative to fight hunger by donating $80 million dollars and 200 million meals to people all over the world over five years.
9. Google recently donated $10 million dollars to innovative nonprofits, one of which is revolutionizing education in the third world. The Khan Academy, who received a $2 million grant from Google, creates YouTube videos of every single academic subject matter, from algebra to chemistry to history. In this way, children anywhere in the world with Internet access can learn for free. Once a broadband and wireless Internet company brings wireless to remote areas of the world, poor children can easily learn — I clearly picture a school with a single computer for 100 kids and a projector showing Khan Academy videos. The opportunity is astounding.
10. Change The Equation is the result of 100 companies bringing their CEO leadership together to address the United States’ declining performance in critical educational STEM areas — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The organization is piloting innovative and important educational programs to encourage and empower students to perform more highly in these areas.
These 10 initiatives are just a few of the many ways that businesses are doing their part to change the world through capitalism. I call this shift “benevolent capitalism.” You can call it what you want — what matters is that organizations and networks are leveraging their resources to mobilize to change the world. I’ve written in previous blog posts about how consumers are clamoring for companies to sell them products that empower nonprofits, communities, and engage consumers to participate in change. Not only are companies responding, they are using their own unique resources to contribute to a better world.
