AgileBA® Agile for Business Analysts: Driving out requirements, managing expectations

APMG International
AgileBA® Agile Business Analysis Certification

Master the role of Agile Business Analyst with AgileBA® training and certification

The business analyst role is critical for successful agile projects and development. Despite this, there
has been little in the way of detailed best practice guidance that directly addresses the role, responsibilities and skills of the Agile Business Analyst.

In partnership with DSDM Consortium, APMG International is delighted to offer AgileBA® -
a professional training and certification scheme to support those working in (or aspiring to) an Agile Business Analyst role.
Our syllabus is based on the AgileBA® Handbook, published by DSDM Consortium. The handbook offers useful, practical and comprehensive guidance on the role of the Business Analyst working in an agile way.

Along with the handbook, training and certification aims to provide:
■ Knowledge and understanding of the Agile Business Analyst role and responsibilities;
■ Context to the role beyond the individual project, in relation to organizational mission and strategy;
■ Additional depth, guidance and techniques for the Business Analyst role.

Who IS IT for?
AgileBA® guidance, training and certification are designed to benefit a wide range of roles including Business Analysts, Change Analysts, Project Managers, Scrum Product Owners/Managers, Systems Analysts and Agile Developers.

The guidance is based on the DSDM Agile Project Framework, an approach which defines the role of the project-based Business Analyst in relation to business, development and testing roles at all levels. However the guidance goes deeper, with many generic and popular agile techniques also included.
AgileBA® is the latest addition to our agile ‘family’ of training and certification schemes, joining the popular and well established AgilePM® (Agile Project Management) launched in 2010 and AgilePgM® (Agile Programme Management) launched in 2014.

An increasing number of organizations have found agile software development approaches help them develop products or systems much more effectively than in the past. The values, principles, and techniques of agile approaches certainly help teams build things right. However, projects will still fail if team members such as Product Owners and Business Analysts don’t properly understand and communicate requirements to ensure that the right solution is being delivered. The approach to analysis and documentation may differ, but the need to use excellent requirements to define the right solution remains essential to the agile approach.

This course is designed to introduce students to the agile values, principles, and techniques and takes an in-depth look into the skills necessary to ensure that the team is identifying and delivering the right thing. Whether you’re an existing agile team or new to an agile approach, everyone involved with an agile project needs to understand the needs they are trying to satisfy and the approach they are using to satisfy those needs.

Students will gain knowledge and skills by practicing techniques and soft skills needed to operate effectively in an agile environment.

Why DSDM?

DSDM ensures Risks of project and Speed of project do not hamper the balance of the project variables like time cost scope and quality.

What is difference between SCRUM and DSDM?

Scrum is Solution delivery methodology
DSDM is Project Management Methodology

What is the difference in DSDM approach and Traditional Approach to handle project?

Traditional approach Features are fixed, cost is a variable
DSDM Time is fixed, features are variable,

A useful quote from the customer of one of the very first DSDM projects ever run…
“We got less than we asked for,
but more than we expected,
because we got exactly what we wanted.”
